So before I wrote, I drew, so I still mainly write by drawing, characters especially.
I have an easier time figuring out a character when I draw them in a comic or a picture so I still do it first before I ever write text.
This isn’t fanart, I’m working with Ashwara writing shit, and it’s A TON OF FUN. I thought since he and I were the type to want to work on our own projects there was no way this could work out, but so far it’s all smooth. Haha, I’m truly thankful.
Anyways, just figuring out the characters, getting a feel for them. This isn’t fanart so feel free to tell me if you think I characterized them incorrectly in any way, Ashwara.
Haha, this was fun. I’ve never had a female character with hair as long as Robin’s so that was fun. MARCY I HAD NO IDEA. I JUST DREW WHATEVER.
ALWAYS BE COPPING. I’M OUT.
Vi is helping me write Robin in the City now!!!!! I asked her to help because the story has a lot of content to fill, and I was going pretty slow. I’ve known her for so long (like 9 years?????) and we have a lot of similar ideas about the world and stories I think, so I felt that working with her wouldn’t alter the vision of my story in any way I didn’t like, and would only improve it. Plus having someone to bounce ideas off of is hella fun and helpful.
There’s no need to do everything myself! I just want to be a part of making great things someday!!!!!!!!

“Robin is an energetic and enthusiastic young girl, but don’t let her brashness put you off! She has a literary habit, and dreams of one day saving the entire Earth. If you manage to get close to her, you will see she is very kind, and has soft spot for kids (maybe because she is one!). Though she’s trying to learn to skateboard, she just can’t get it! Give it your all, Robin~!”
Vi told me to write one of my characters like they were from an eroge so I did. Then she told me to draw her moe so I did.

A short style test, to figure out palette/technique/rendering options/etc. It rendered kind of lighter than it’s supposed to be (it’s supposed to look like this? The vimeo grains kind of.. darkened it a little. Ha ha.) so I need to figure out what to do about that. And I think a shadow on the ground would have helped. Frame rate is a little quick too.. Sad that it’s a scene where Robin gets punched but this was the easier one to finish and had a reasonable number of frames.
Didn’t bother coloring the dude because who’s got the time

A fight scene!!! Animatic/rough animation. What will happen?
Drawn in Photoshop, composited in Premier. Despite less sleep and eating, making this was one of the best weeks of my life dang. Hopefully in the next couple of months I will tween and clean (and color and edit) it.

When I was in high school, there was a swing in the front yard that I used to sit and swing on all the time. It was a place to enjoy nice weather, or whatever weather, and I ended up spending a lot of time there thinking and trying to understand myself and the world with what limited knowledge I had.
It’s still there, and when I visit my parents I often go back to it. It’s strange how a place where you sat idle could present so many memories.
